Are We Having Fun Yet? By
Mershon Niesner, PCC, CPCC This is a day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it..- Psalm 118.24 Fun isn't just for leisure time…it's one of the business woman's advantages at all times. Although we don't always listen to it, as women, our intuition and "nurturing nature" tells us to bring lightness to our work as well as our leisure. This doesn't mean we're less serious or have less dedication to our careers. It means we can laugh at ourselves, create a fun-filled recognition event, light a candle in our office or use pink memo pads with confidence. We often think of fun as something that only happens spontaneously. But, just like friendships, sex, and pot roast, sometimes you need to plan for it or it just doesn't happen. I believe that finding ways to daily enjoy and have fun in your work and personal life is a continuous challenge that is worth the effort. When was the last time you had lunch in the park or sent a funny card to a colleague? Maintaining a positive
attitude, allowing oneself to have fun and to be happy, is not only an
element in business success but the key to long life. People who suffer
from anxiety and depression often age quickly and die prematurely. Depression
has a greater effect on longevity than excess weight, smoking or drinking.
Studies show that job satisfaction follows love as the most important
factor in attaining happiness. And, job satisfaction is enhanced by joyful
events, pleasant surroundings, and acknowledgment of the Aren't long life and success reason enough to incorporate fun into your goals and dreams? If this is true, then make it happen. Start now to put more fun in your life. Coaching challenge:
